Project Justice

Defending the rights of Indigenous women and changing the unfair provisions of the Indian Act are the reasons for the association’s creation. QNW has developed a renowned expertise in defending indigenous women’s rights since 1974; by promoting equality between indigenous women and men, in denouncing the Indian Act, by supporting the families of missing and murdered women and residential schools’ survivors.

With the Justice file, QNW defends the rights of Indigenous women and girls and their families in the areas of justice and public safety. To this end, QNW promotes the interests, needs and priorities of Indigenous women and girls to the various levels of government, decision makers and civil society. This is done by providing information, training and recommendations to partners involved in improving access to justice and safety for Indigenous women and girls.
