The Public Forum Sha’tetionkwate will take place Saturday February 16th, 2019 from 9am to 4pm at Nouvel Hôtel et Spa Montréal (1740 René-Lévesque West, Montréal H3H 1R3).

Since its foundation in 1974, Quebec Native Women has denounced the discrimination against Indigenous women and their descendants in the Indian Act. 45 years later, this discrimination still exists. During the Sha’tetiónkwate Public Forum, special guests and panelists will unite their voices to denounce this discrimination and the government’s lack of effective action to uphold, once and for all, the right to equality of indigenous women and their descendants.

The Public Forum will be concluded by a March for Equality: https://www.facebook.com/events/441467506391351/

A Legal Information Clinic on the Indian Act and registration will be held simultaneously: https://www.facebook.com/events/614321065696300/

Sha’tetiónkwate is a word in Kanien’kéha that means “All are equal”.

We acknowledge that this public forum will take place on traditional unceded Kanien’keháka territory.
